Ninthfloor.org provides free shell accounts on a stable, secure, full-featured and well maintained Unix system. It offers a large set of general purpose programs and services. The project's mission is to provide an Internet accessible computing facility available to everybody for personal use, learning and experimenting.
The project is run following the values and philosophies of the hacker ethic that are standard in the hacker community. Its general principles are often summarized as: free access to computers; always yield to the hands-on imperative; freedom of information; decentralization; mistrust of bogus judgement criteria, such as degrees, age, race or position; and world improvement.
