As the VFX keep getting bigger and better their underlying plots degenerate and become more one-dimensional than the comics most of them are loosely based on. The money of the production is mainly spent on stars and on post-production facilities on the west coast. The companies make good money and so nobody ponders: Is it all worth the effort?
