There are more kinds of plants than there are of animals in this world – the numbers of known plants in the world is almost unimaginable – anywhere from 1/4 to nearly 1/2 a million, according to wikipedia. And that just the plants that flower – then there are the conifers, the ferns, and… you get the idea.
But many people ignore plants. It has been said that if you hang a painting of a forest on the wall, and there happens to be a deer in the picture, most people will tell you the painting is about the deer. They will not be able to tell you anything about the trees in the forest – or the grass that the deer is grazing on for that matter!
