Cinema Speakeasy is a monthly film screening series that showcases independent media in Los Angeles and San Francisco, USA.
It was created because good independent films are seldom seen in a group setting, because ideas need to be shared, because communities need to be fostered, because there is a scarcity of exhibition opportunity for independent films, and because we believe that curation is the answer to media oversaturation.
We showcase independent films in regular programs on a monthly basis at locations around California. Further to that, we support filmmakers by helping them with marketing, aligning them with new audiences, and providing creative support. Cinema Speakeasy also aims to model an actionable step filmmakers can take for themselves to help shatter an opaque film distribution system. All without corporate support or intervention.
