First of all I'm an American living in Amsterdam, for 20+ years now. I was born in Chicago.
I worked for about 15 years doing things related to UNIX and C. First for about 5 years as a porting engineer and light development. Then I did consulting for another 10 years or so, doing mostly C programming and UNIX sysadmin, with a strong emphasis on free software and the Internet.
